Heliocare capsules are an oral dietary supplement that contains antioxidant properties which help maintain the skin’s ability to protect against sun-related effects and aging.
Fernblock™, (from the plant Polypodium Leucotomas) the main active ingredient in Heliocare capsules, works to protect the skin's structure and immune response and also provides a daily defense against the UV photoaging process. Heliocare acts as a scavenger to mop up free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS), particularly superoxide anions, which can occur due to exposure to UV rays and pollution. The formulation also includes green tea extract and Vitamin E to help further protect skin cells.

Studies reveal that the antioxidants in Heliocare work against the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation to decrease sunburn response, including a significant reduction in the number of ultraviolet induced sunburn cells and DNA damage.
Over 12 years of research has confirmed the antioxidant and photoprotectant properties of Heliocare. It has shown that the agent is effective when taken in capsule form or used on the skin. And it confirmed that the capsule form has no known harmful side effects.
Heliocare should not be considered as a substitute for a broad spectrum UVA/UVB blocking sunscreen and protective clothing. It is particularly useful for individuals with sensitive skin, who have had skin treatments or who wish to minimize the aging effects of the sun. It is simply another "layer" of protection. It does not reverse damage.
One a day in the morning to help prevent the signs of photo-ageing. Two a day in the morning during periods of high UV exposure (ideally 15 days prior to the high exposure, during the high exposure and 15 days after the period of high exposure).
Heliocare is not a substitute for sunscreen, protective clothing or sun avoidance. It should not be used during pregnancy. Safety and efficacy studies have not been conducted on anyone under the age of 18.
